From Chemistry Class to Forever

Sarah and Kyle met as high school chemistry partners in 2015. What began as friendship slowly became something deeper, and by junior year they officially started dating. They attended every high school dance together and, over the next seven years, navigated long-distance love through college, career moves, and licensing exams—Sarah in Cleveland earning her physical therapy license and Kyle working for Southwest Airlines in Arizona.

Where an Arizona Sunset Marked The Beginning

In November 2022, during a visit to Arizona, Kyle suggested dinner followed by feeding ducks at Sugaro Lake. As the sun dipped behind the mountains, Kyle knelt on the dock and proposed—perfectly timed with the sunset.

While the proposal moment was a surprise, the future was not. Sarah and Kyle had long known this was a forever kind of love, even designing the engagement ring together. The proposal marked not a beginning, but a beautiful continuation—new horizons built on a strong foundation. They shared their joyful news with family and friends over the Christmas holidays.

Why They Chose O.Henry Hotel For Their Venue

Having grown up in Greensboro, the couple’s connection to O.Henry Hotel began long before their wedding day. While they explored a few other venues during the planning process, each visit only confirmed what they already knew—O.Henry was the right place for them. Afternoon Tea had long been a favorite for Sarah, and the hotel’s polished elegance, balanced by a warm and welcoming ambiance, felt fitting for their celebration.

A Perfect Match

It was a one-stop shop, we loved the location, and the ambiance was exactly what we wanted.

– Sarah

For Sarah and Kyle, the combination of elegance and comfort made planning from afar feel simple and manageable. It was especially meaningful since many of their guests traveled from out of town and stayed overnight at O.Henry, allowing friends and family to gather, celebrate, and enjoy the weekend together.

The Vision | Black Tie, Timeless, and Classic

When it came to wedding design, Sarah and Kyle wanted something classic, elegant, and never dated. Their color palette of champagne and gold delivered just that—soft, refined, and timeless.

Every detail felt intentional, from the floral selections to the understated elegance of the décor, perfectly complimenting the traditional charm of O.Henry Hotel.
