Kim and Jim began as high school sweethearts. In 1982, they danced the night away at prom — a memory captured in a photo that still makes them laugh today. Life eventually pulled them in different directions, but in 2021, fate stepped in. A golf game between Jim and Kim’s uncle sparked a conversation, then a message, and soon — a reconnection on Facebook that blossomed into a love renewed and far more lasting than either could have imagined.

When Jim proposed, he wanted the moment to honor their second chance at love. First, Kim’s mother, Nancy and Kim’s daughter, Jordan for their blessing. Then, with the help of his daughter Gillian, they orchestrated a proposal with romance and meaning.
On a Florida beach, with champagne and chocolate fondue, he asked Kim to be his forever—and she said yes.
The ring carried its own symbolism. Jim chose an antique diamond from Asheville’s Biltmore Village, believing that, like their love, it was being given a second chance. He had it reset in a new design, representing the fresh start of their life together.

The O.Henry Hotel was already a place of meaning for Jim, whose family celebrated birthdays and anniversaries there over the years. When he and Kim reconnected in 2022, he introduced her to the hotel’s timeless ambiance.
Over dinners at Green Valley Grill and lingering Afternoon Teas, Kim fell in love with the gracious service and vintage charm.
Kim and Jim’s wedding day vision was to reflect the timeless elegance of the O.Henry Hotel — with vintage-inspired details, classic florals, and a refined palette of blue and white.
The bridal party enjoyed a relaxing Afternoon Tea service in the Porter Hospitality Suite — a perfect blend of elegance and comfort. Learn more about the O.Henry Hotel Private Afternoon Tea Package.

On her wedding morning, Kim smiled as she thought about the age-old tradition: Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue.
Her something old rested gently on her hand—the cameo ring Jim had given her back in the early ’80s, a sweet reminder of where their love began.
For something new, she stepped into her vintage-inspired lace gown by Justin Alexander, a symbol of the fresh chapter she and Jim were writing together.
Her daughter, Jordan, lent her a pair of delicate earrings for her something borrowed—the same ones Kim had given her on her own wedding day, a circle of love passed between generations.
Reflecting her something blue was the cherished tea set gifted by Jordan, which also inspired the color of the gowns her bridal party wore.

Jim wore a tuxedo with a white coat and black bow tie, a tribute to both of their fathers, who had worn the same style at their own weddings. His simple gold wedding band was even more meaningful—it once belonged to Kim’s late father.
The attire and accessories held deep meaning. The vintage-inspired Justin Alexander gown Kim selected with her daughter, Jordan, became the subject of a canvas painting that Jordan painted herself, every detail carefully rendered into an heirloom unlike any bridal portrait.

Kim also honored family legacies: her bouquet carried a photo of her late father and the garter she wore was handmade by her daughter in the likeness of her grandmother’s crochet tradition.
The ceremony was held in the Don Rives Cloister Garden with thirty-two guests. Family surrounded them—daughters, a grandson in a tiny tuxedo, Kim’s mother, and lifelong friends who had played roles in their journey.
