With diverse initiatives that help you to restore, explore, and connect with your community, Preservation Greensboro provides a voice for revitalization, improved quality of life, and conservation of historic resources for future generations.
Their project portfolio includes Architectural Salvage, Blandwood historic house museum, the Blandwood Carriage House special events center, a preservation resources library, the annual Tour of Historic Homes, and community advocacy. They promote architecture and neighborhoods through our activities such as educational tours, special events, seminars, and publications, while their sister organization the Preservation Greensboro Development Fund finds extended uses for historic buildings owned by others through partnerships and creative solutions.
For over 50 years, Preservation Greensboro Incorporated has served to preserve historic sites, neighborhoods, and streetscapes that provide the Gate City with a unique sense of history and place. As the city’s only non-governmental membership organization dedicated to this cause, Preservation Greensboro has provided resources to enhance our distinctive sense of heritage and has helped the city maintain a tradition of adaptive reuse, renovation, and recycling. About the Home
“Hillside” was originally built in 1929 for Julian Price, president of Jefferson Standard Life Insurance, by the famed architect Charles Hartmann. The historic home is now listed as a county landmark and is also on the National Register of Historic Places. This home will proudly host 28 designers a they transform each space to their own, while maintaining this history and emphasizing the interior architecture. The esteemed mansion is a showstopper with rough stucco, herringbone brick,false-half timbered walls massive brick chimneys with articulated flues and clay pots, and an symmetrical massing of gables, wall dormers and stair tower.
