It was the highly anticipated follow up to the 2011 critically acclaimed The Light of the Sun, which debuted at No. 1 number on the Billboard 200. Scott burst on to the music scene with her groundbreaking 2000 release “Who Is Jill Scott?” Words & Sounds Vol. 1, which achieved double-platinum status and earned her NAACP Image Awards, trophies from both Billboard and Soul Train and four Grammy nominations, including a Best New Artist nomination.

Acclaimed, award-winning artist Jason Isbell has announced tour dates in Fall 2016, including a show at White Oak Amphitheatre on Saturday, Oct. 15. The shows are in support of the recent release of Something More Than Free, his highly anticipated fifth album (Southeastern Records), for which Isbell recently won the Grammy Award for “Best Americana Album”. Isbell also won the Grammy for “Best Americana/Roots Song” for ’24 Frames’, the first single from the album. Isbell will be touring with his band The 400 Unit, featuring Derry Deborja (Keys), Chad Gamble (drums), Jimbo Hart (bass) and Sadler Vaden (guitar).
Something More Than Free is Isbell’s most sonically diverse album to date. It features Isbell’s Southern inspired vignettes of working class men, women and traditions that permeate 11 new songs of pure honestly and authenticity.

2016 USA Masters Games

The inaugural USA Masters Games, to be held July 21 to July 31, 2016, in Greensboro, NC marks the launch of a new multi-sport event for competitive adult athletes. The USA Masters Games will provide both a “national-championships-level” competitive experience in each sport and a fun, entertaining environment conducive to meeting and socializing with fellow Masters athletes from across the U.S. and other countries of the world – a Sports Festival for Masters athletes.

PGA Wyndham Championship

Wyndham Championship

Contested annually on the Donald Ross-designed course at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., the Wyndham Championship was founded in 1938 and is the sixth-oldest event on the PGA TOUR excluding the Majors.  The tournament enjoys a rich 76-year history that includes such former winners as Sam Snead, Byron Nelson, Ben Hogan, Gary Player and Seve Ballesteros.  In fact, 17 former winners are members of the World Golf Hall of Fame.  The Wyndham Championship is the only regular season PGA TOUR event contested on a course originally designed by Donald Ross. The 2016 tournament, set for August 15-21, will mark the 77th edition of North Carolina’s oldest professional golf event.

Last season saw ACC Swimming and Diving cap off an excellent year with the NC State men and Virginia women claiming team titles. NC State went on to lead four ACC teams among the top 20 of the NCAA Men’s Championship with an eighth-place finish, and Miami senior diver Sam Dorman capped off his career by breaking the NCAA 3-meter springboard diving record.

ACC Hall of Champions showcases ACC history through interactive displays, unique institutional exhibits and multi-purpose program space. Highlights include a four-foot, 360-degree, state-of-the-art video globe with a unique, multi-media display of conference highlights, life-size ACC school mascot exhibits that have been a huge hit with younger visitors and an interactive exhibit that lets fans face off in a head-to-head challenge to test their knowledge of ACC sports trivia.

Greensboro Aquatic Center is a world-class, state-of-the-art facility with threebbodies of water and a seating capacity of 2,500. The GAC brings together all major aquatic sports – competitive swimming and diving, water polo, synchronized swimming and other unique sports – all in one venue.

White Oak Amphitheatre is an outdoor venue with a seating capacity of over 7,600, including more than 2,000 reserved seats. White Oak Amphitheatre hosts a diverse selection of community programs, music, arts and crafts and festival type events.
